The point is that it's unhelpful to just label a genre-specific game as a clone. A game is either good or bad or somewhere in between. Blood II, even now, is considered by many as an also-ran. But like the criticisms levelled at the first game, none of it will really matter. It's got a promising new engine, and I for one look forward to the unholy second coming. At the very least it's going to be a bloody good laugh (ahem).

What characterised Blood was its unashamed references to the great schlock-horror films of the '70s and '80s - zombies, rats, mad monks and dismembered hands. In many ways Blood was the game equivalent of Evil Dead- darkly funny, cheap and with a whole lotta blood. The sequel promises to take everything a stage further, and with a brand new engine at their fingertips, maybe this time Monolith will finally get the credit they deserve.

Gamers who enjoyed the carnage in the first Blood game (see "PC GamePro," July '97) will be pleased to hear it looks like the series has lost none of its gory edge in Blood II: The Chosen. If anything, this sequel reaches new heights, with more weapons and enemies, bigger levels, a new graphics engine, and, of course, more blood.

Blood II's new weapons are. also killer. The most enjoyable are the sniper rifle, which lets you pick off enemies from several yards away, and the flying sphere, which attaches to an enemy's head and drills into their skull (a la Phantasm). Yes, there's plenty of blood to spill--even more than in the first game.

Despite its new graphics and game elements. Blood II pales a bit in comparison to the first tide. Most corridor-shooter fans will be pleased with the sequel, but bloodthirsty fans of the original may be disappointed. Spilling Blood is still a thrill, but it was more fun the first time.

The game Blood II: The Chosen + Expansion come with an additional nightmare level with an immersive atmosphere full of dark humor and exciting action. The game can be downloaded and played directly from the Steam platform.

Simple, bloody fun... Blood 2: The Chosen is an exercise in gory, old-school gameplay, based on the premise of 'Shoot first, ask questions later'. The sequel to the Duke 3D-powered 'Blood', set a hundred years after the original, delivers just what it says - blood, and plenty of it! The gameplay itself is standard fare blowing the crap out of everything in your path gameplay, but what it lacks in originality it makes up in style and the smart ass quips that your chosen player makes as he/she reduces enemies to a shower of blood and entrails.

Playable characters include Caleb, the vicious main character from the original Blood, his cold-blooded love Ophelia, the ruthless Ishmael, or warrior Gabriela. Depending on who you choose will determine how you play the game, as certain players have different abilities including magic powers.

Transfusion (formerly known as QBlood, also sometimes referred to as BloodBath) is a project started in March 2001 to recreate Blood under the DarkPlaces engine which is a modified Quake engine. The Transfusion project aims at recreating the Blood levels, as well as the "Post Mortem", and "Cryptic Passage" episodes from the expansion packs, under a truly three dimensional and free software engine. Currently the game only supports BloodBath games, though unlike Blood it supports bots using the largely waypoint based FrikBots system (added to games by pressing end or pageup); similar to the Open Quartz project. Since 2007, the project has been effectively dormant, although being open source software it could be launched again pending any interested contributors.

Founded prior to Transfusion, this effort produced free software tools under the GNU General Public License for manipulating game assets, graphics, sounds, maps and episodes for Blood as well as converting them to work with the then newly released Build engine source code. These tools were later used in the development of BloodCM, which later spawned BloodGDX.

Blood II: The Chosen + Expansion is an Action and Adventure video game that was released on Oct 31, 1998. Today you can easily download Blood II: The Chosen + Expansion free game for PC from our website.

A central feature of Blood is an abundant (and often exaggerated) graphic violence, from which the game derives its name. Enemies can be blown to pieces, and the pieces often rain down on the player. Zombies' heads can be shot off and then kicked around like footballs, spewing fountains of blood. Enemies scream if set on fire or are otherwise injured, making sound an integral part of the violent atmosphere of Blood. The levels themselves are designed with the same spirit, as corpses, torture victims, and several grotesque situations are witnessed in the game. Collectively, these features caused some public concern about Blood, leading to a censored re-release of the game.

This site provides a One-Click solution that looks at your computer's hardware and system software to determine whether or not your current system can run a product. Each of your computer's components is evaluated to see how well it meets the minimum and recommended requirements for specific products. Recommendations are made on how to update or upgrade each component which does not meet the listed requirements. Sometimes, a simple, free software download is all that is needed. Sometimes you'll find that you need a different video card to fully experience what the game has to offer.

The original Blood was one of the "Big three" build engine games, an amazing, frantic grind house action/horror title that is severely underrated. And now that Doom got its modern reboot, we thought that blood deserved one as well and so the remake was afoot. However Amateur Hour Games is just a one man band sort of studio and after half a year in production only a demo containing the first level complete with all the secrets and a basic wave based zombie mode.If the demo ends up getting tracking work on the rest of the game will start.

Valve's Steam platform for PC is soon going to make a classic open-world game completely free to download for a short period of time. In a general sense, PC fans are more used to seeing free games become available on a weekly basis through the Epic Games Store. However, Steam is known to also give away free titles on a somewhat routine basis as well, and as luck would have it, this trend will be continuing in just a couple of short days.

To coincide with the 20th anniversary of the series, 2K Games will be making the original Mafia free to download on PC. Starting on September 1st and lasting until September 5th, Mafia will be free for all Steam users to add to their own digital game library. First released back in 2002, the original Mafia came to PC first before later arriving on PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The game went on to later spawn two sequels, but it's the first installment in the series that likely remains the most beloved. Mafia boasts an impressive 88/100 score on Metacritic, which shows just how heralded it was at the time of its launch.

Are you going to look to snag Mafia for yourself on Steam when it does become free? And do you think that this giveaway is a good way for 2K to celebrate the game's anniversary? Let me know either down in the comments or hit me up on social media at @MooreMan12.
